Pot odds

The ratio between the money already in the pot and the amount a player must pay to call in order to keep playing.

With 100 in the middle and an opponent betting 10, the pot stands at 110 and the call costs 10, so the pot is laying odds of 11-to-1. The comparison is the calling standard: a call is correct when the chance that the hand is best exceeds those odds, and equally correct on a draw when the odds of making a better hand are greater than the odds the pot offers. The same calculation therefore governs both made hands and drawing hands.
