The Autorité nationale des jeux is France's gambling regulator, an independent administrative authority instituted by the ordonnance of 2 October 2019 and in place since June 2020.

It brings every authorised form of gambling in France under a single regulator, and for online poker the market is open to licensed operators in competition rather than a monopoly. Its stated missions include preventing excessive and underage gambling, ensuring the integrity of gaming operations and combating illegal sites, backed since March 2022 by an administrative power to block sites offering illegal gambling. A sanctions commission can issue warnings, suspend an operator's licence and impose financial penalties of up to 5 per cent of turnover, while a voluntary self-exclusion file bars registrants from ANJ-licensed online poker sites among other offerings.
